Dr. Darla Eshelman has established herself as a choral composer, board member, officer, and clinician for OAKE/OKE, ACDA/OKCDA, NAFME/OKMEA Organizations and Conferences and various school districts. She is a frequent conductor for honor choir festivals, all-state choirs, and other concert and church events. Her work has been performed at Carnegie Hall, International Children’s Choir Festivals, National and All-State Treble Choirs.
Her teaching experience includes Ira A. Murphy K-8 School in Arizona, Oklahoma Baptist University, University of Central Oklahoma, the Oklahoma Academy for Classical Christian Studies and Grand Canyon University. Throughout her career she has also been a community children and youth choir conductor. Her most recent being the CentralOklahoma Solfa Youth Choirs where she was founder and artistic director, and conductor for Voce Spiritus, an auditioned choir for girls in 8th-12th grades. She has traveled around the nation with her school, community and university choirs and loves any chance to direct a choir or to hear her music performed. Darla is a committed Kodaly educator and strong advocate for the beauty and usefulness of solfege in all rehearsals. She has taught all levels of music for the past 40 years and is currently composing and conducting full time. She welcomes commissions and conducting invitations and is passionate about sharing the gift of music with all age groups.
